Large success comes from many small successes.

 

When I think of the Mississippi River I do not think of this……

But this small creek coming out of Lake Itasca in northern Minnesota is where it starts….it would take 10 minutes for one semi-trailer

of water to flow out of the lake into the Mississippi there…..it flows roughly 2350 miles into the Gulf of Mexico.  When I think of the Mississippi I think

more of this…..

By the time the Mississippi River reaches New Orleans the equivalent of 166 semi-trailers of water flow past Algiers Point every SECOND.  It grows slowly

along its journey to the Gulf as many feeder streams and rivers along the way join its course.

This is my view of trading……starting slowly and continuing to build on small successes that add up over time.  Continuing to book small gains along the

way with a few nice larger gains that come along throughout the year.  While 3% or 5% doesn’t always feel like much on one trade, those add up over

a longer time horizon…..that strategy is reflected in the TradeontheFly Trade ledgers…our Main Ledger is up 38% ytd, 246% over the last 3 years.

The Long Term Ledger is up 23% ytd and up 76% over the last 3 years.

While we would all like to start at Lake Itasca and end up immediately at the Gulf of Mexico with our accounts, the reality is it takes Patience, Time, and Process to get there.
